After you've settled in, you can easily take a walk right outside your door and head for Forsyth Park or Mother Matilda Beasley Park. Forsyth Park is home to the iron fountain from the popular book and movie "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," and it covers 30 acres, so it's a walking adventure for an afternoon. Visit in March and you can see the waters dyed green for St. Patrick's Day. If you can't get enough of "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," then you will want to also visit the Mercer Williams House, the Bonaventure Cemetery, Clary's Cafe and the Bird Girl Sculpture, now in the Jepson Center for the Arts. You can also take a Savannah Movie Tour, which spends time on the settings from the book, or the Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil Book Tour.
Savannah also has no shortage of museums and historical landmarks. Visit the Pin Point Heritage Museum to find out about a company owned by freed slaves, or visit the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum to find out about all things nautical. Other museums include the Georgia State Railroad Museum, Davenport House Museum and Savannah History Museum. You will also want to visit the Savannah Victorian Historic District and the River Street. The Victorian District covers 50 blocks not far from the historic downtown and offers an amazing study in Victorian architecture. River Street is another must-see with its cotton warehouses now converted to hold everything from galleries, to pubs to antique shops. Take a tour with Old Town Trolley Tours of Savannah and see this fantastic part of Savannah. If you like to hear about ghosts, then consider taking the Ghosts & Gravestone tour from the same company. This tour is extremely popular and sells out quickly, so make sure to book early.

Town Homes There is an old saying about having sand in your shoes, and therefore, becoming emotionally linked to a place. Savannah, Georgia is that type of travel destination. It is a place that grabs you emotionally with its moss-draped oaks, lining the Savannah historic district and antebellum mansions that hint of drama from another time. It is the sense that this is a place where history was made, lives were lost in dramatic fashion, yet dreams were fulfilled just as spectacularly.
