Why not let someone else do all the work this Thanksgiving? After all, it’s a holiday for you, too. Dig into that All-American feast, pass the football, and do some holiday shopping while on a Savannah vacation. If you need an incentive, we’ve put together a list to entice you to the Georgia coast.

1. No cooking or cleanup

Do you usually spend Thanksgiving week getting the house ready for company, cooking the turkey, sides, and pies, then cleaning up? Wouldn’t you prefer a week on a Savannah vacation?

2. The Best Thanksgiving takeout

Enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner around the table at your luxury property with take-out from one of Savannah’s favorite restaurants, The Olde Pink House. Not only is the award-winning restaurant serving classic holiday favorites in-house on Thanksgiving, order ahead of time, and you can pick up their specialties like mac and cheese and Southern greens.

3. The Best Restaurant for Thanksgiving

Enjoy a shared Thanksgiving meal at Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room, 107 West Jones St. The tabletops are covered with platters of fried chicken and cornbread dressing, sweet potato souffle, black-eyed peas, okra gumbo, corn muffins, and biscuits. Or chow down with the Thanksgiving Grand Buffet at The Pirates’ House, served 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The prime rib are among the best you’ve ever had. It’s an incredible spread, with a wide variety of salads, seafood, appetizers, veggies, a carving station, and a variety of desserts.

4. Amazing Thanksgiving properties

Book our two-bedroom/two-bath Seaport Loft with a balcony that gives you incredible views of the river. Need more space? No problem. Enjoy a luxury stay at the three-bedroom Beytagh 1872, which accommodates eight guests.

5. Treat yourself

Savannah Coffee Roasters offers four seatings for Libertea High Tea on Saturday, Nov. 27. Savor delicate favorites and selections like macarons, fruit tartlets, millie-Feuilles, cream puffs, chocolate eclair, truffles, and chocolate shots.

6. Black Friday Shopping

There’s no better place for Black Friday shopping than the quaint boutiques, specialty shops, and mom-and-pop stores of Savannah’s Historic District. Hit the shops on Broughton Street, City Market, and the Plant Riverside District. You’ll find the perfect gift for everyone on your list, from locally-made items to high-end fashion accessories to homemade candy, jellies, and jams.

7. Holiday Traditions

Spend Thanksgiving weekend getting in the Christmas spirit with some of Savannah’s favorite traditions. Get tickets to see “A Christmas Tradition” at The Historic Savannah Theatre. Take the two-hour Holiday Lights & Sights Tour with Old Town Trolley Tours, from Nov. 26 through Dec. 24. Watch the annual Boat Parade of Lights on Nov. 27 when 40 decorated vessels parade the Riverfront starting at 7 p.m.

A Savannah Thanksgiving offers a relaxing way to celebrate the most American of holidays. Let someone else do the cooking and cleaning this year.
