You’ve set the date and booked a Tybee Island beach rental. Now you have to plan what to do once you arrive.

Of course, you’ll want to start at the beach, and Tybee Island has some great ones! Each has something unique to offer, whether you hit North Beach, South Beach, Mid Beach, or Back River Beach. For example, you want the spot that’s hopping with lots of shopping, restaurants, and people? Head to South Beach.

If you’re looking for a more secluded spot, park your beach chair at Mid Beach or River Beach. You can’t go wrong either way.

If you stay in a beachfront home, you are just steps from a gorgeous stretch of sand. What’s not to love about that?

A fun activity the entire family will enjoy is a dolphin tour. After all, everyone turns into a bit of a kid when they catch sight of dolphins playing in the water. Several experienced captains know the best spots for dolphin sightings. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity you don’t want to miss during your summer vacation.

Another great way to explore the waterways is on a Tybee Island Ecology Trip. These two-hour tours are perfect for families, with plenty of activities to keep everyone engaged. Tybee Island Ecology Trips include beachcombing, trying your hand at pulling a 50-foot net, and exploring tidal pools.

Want to get a little more adventurous? Catch a wave or a breeze with surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing. Tybee Surf LessonsTybee Surf School, and North Island Surf and Kayak offer lessons and rentals. Boardloft can help you take flight with kitesurfing lessons.

Fishing is another favorite island pastime. Try your luck at Tybee Beach Pier and Pavilion or the Lazaretto Creek Fishing Pier. Or cast a line from the beach by surf fishing. Around the jetties is an excellent place to see if they’re biting. If you want to try inshore or deep-sea fishing, book a charter with one of the local boat captains. They’ll get you on the fish and have you reeling in the big one!

Of course, you can always sit and soak up the sun. A great place is a balcony or patio at your Tybee Island beach rental. Make a splash in the ocean or the pool. Cook those fish you caught on the outdoor grill. Relax with your family on the deck or the large living area. After all, that’s what summer vacation is all about.
