Savannah is becoming a foodie destination with a Historic District full of restaurants that offer eclectic menus and settings.

The Sentient Bean is one of our favorites, offering breakfast all day, vegan selections, gluten-free tacos and wraps, and delicious coffee drinks served in a variety of ways.

Art’s Cafe, located on charming Madison Square at the Savannah College of Art and Design, offers an assortment of free and healthy fare such as smoothies, wraps, juices, and coffee. But it’s the decor that really stands out, most notably the classic double-decker bus initially used in London and later operated for student transportation at SCAD.

Goose Feathers Cafe is a European-style cafe and bakery that serves local, fresh food from delicious breakfast items to gourmet sandwiches, quiches, and an array of specialty salads. The cafe is open until 2:30 p.m. but is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Sweeten things up at Shuga Girl Eatery, a sophisticated eatery on Barnard Street that dishes up specialty crepes, designer espressos, cold-pressed juices, and bubble tea. It’s a small place that’s big on flavor.

Wright Square Cafe and Chocolatier is as delightful as it sounds. Relax in a quiet atmosphere while enjoying a meal with everything made in-house - from the roasted turkey cut in thick slices to the tomatoes from the local farmers market to the fresh fruit. And, of course, delicious and decadent chocolate.

Foxy Loxy Cafe on Bull Street offers a delightful setting with an adorable courtyard and a cozy inside space. But it’s the food that really sets this place apart with Tex-Mex lunch items, homemade kolaches (a specialty) made at their sister shop, Henny Penny Cafe, and signature drinks like the Cafe Cubano and Horchata Latte.

Warm up with a coffee cocktail at Franklin’s on Liberty Street. This cozy spot serves a variety of coffee and tea drinks outside the norm. From the Spiked Vanilla Chai to the Lavender Latte to the Espresso Con Panna, you’ve found your new favorite spot. Enjoy with an (Egg) espresso, steamed eggs prepared on the espresso machine.

The truth is, this list is just the tip of the iced coffee. No matter where you stay in Savannah’s Historic District, you’re sure to be steps from an array of wonderfully imaginative cafes full of flair and flavor.
