Fine dining in downtown Savannah is available from several establishments. However, The Olde Pink House fine dining restaurant Savannah is the only restaurant in the area that is located in an 18th century mansion. While eating dinner at The Olde Pink House, you’ll enjoy live entertainment along with seating inside or outside.

History

The Olde Pink House received its name from the distinctive shade of pink stucco that coats its original brick. In 1789, James Habersham Jr. built the manor. Habersham was a member of the city’s founding family and a successful cotton farmer. The British Crown granted Habersham the land for his lavish home and he constructed the manor in a classic colonial style. Furthermore, the home is one of the few structures to remain standing and intact after the 1796 fire. When you visit the restaurant, be sure to notice the Greek portico and the eye-catching Palladian window installed above it. In addition, the fanlight mounted over the front door is one of the oldest in the state.

Once you enter the restaurant’s foyer, you’ll appreciate the beautiful Georgian staircase which is simple but memorable. From 1804 to 1812, the Bolton’s owned the property, and later, from 1812 to 1865, the Planter’s Bank and First Bank of Georgia used the house to run their banking business. Today, the restaurant is a popular eatery as well as a renowned site for ghost hunters to visit because many of the restaurant’s patrons and staff members have reported recent sightings of James Habersham Jr. According to rumors, the mansion’s first owner hung himself in the home’s basement in 1799.
