Savannah is a beautiful place to visit during autumn, when temperatures drop, and thoughts turn to fall festivals and pumpkin spice. While Labor Day ends the summer festivities, things are just getting started with an array of activities and events set in the fall. 

Cooler Weather

Average highs in October and November are in the 70s, while temperatures get down to the 50s at night - perfect sweater weather for strolls through Savannah’s squares and parks. 

Free Music

Bring a blanket or chair for Phil the Park, a free concert that starts at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 7 at Forsyth Park. The Savannah Philharmonic & Savannah Philharmonic Chorus provide the music, while food trucks offer grub.

Spooky Tales

Get in on gothic storytelling with Bonaventure After Hours tours, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. each weekend. Get an insider’s view into the intriguing past of the historic Bonaventure Cemetery and its departed inhabitants.

Pride

Wear your rainbow colors when Savannah Pride Week takes place Oct. 19-22. The Pride Festival on Oct. 20-21 highlights the week. Set in Ellis Square next to the historic City Market, the festival includes a parade, live music, drag shows, carnival games, a costume contest, and more.  

Street Fairs

Shop locally made arts and crafts and specialty foods at fall fests. The Unity in the Community monthly event on Oct. 20-22 features the Gullah/Geechee Homecoming at Rousakis Plaza on River Street. A Crafts on the River event takes place on Oct. 27-29, with more than 50 artists and crafts exhibiting their wares along River Street.

Film

See a stellar lineup of independent films and hear professionals talk about their craft at forums and panels during the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, which takes center stage on Oct. 21-28.
