The beach is a top destination when families plan a Spring Break getaway. Tybee Island fits the bill for a perfect vacation, with an array of activities, restaurants, and beautiful shoreline along the Atlantic Ocean.

As for reasons to visit Tybee Island, we’ll list some of the top draws.

Of course, our beaches top the list. From North Beach to South Beach to the Back River, our beaches offer beauty and relaxation that we’ll put up against any coastal city in the country. Tybee Island has about five miles of beachfront and is known for being quiet and private.

You will want a comfortable stay. Book one of our Tybee vacation rentals for beach access. Our ocean view homes allow you to take it all in while enjoying roomy bedrooms and modern furnishings and appliances.

The beach is an exquisite place to enjoy outdoor activities, even if it’s a little chilly for swimming. Fly a kite, ride a bike or go for a paddle. Build sandcastles in the sand. It doesn’t take much imagination for kids to make the most of our sandy playground. Hit up Tim’s Bike and Beach Gear for rentals.

Then there are the attractions. Tybee Island Marine Science Center opened a new facility with exhibits and activities. Open Wednesday through Sunday the center allows young scientists to participate in activities such as a Sift N’ Seine and a Marsh Trek.

The Tybee Light Station and Museum is another favorite for young adventurers. The state’s oldest and tallest light is worth a look, and makes a great photo op. Note that the lighthouse will be closed through March 13 for renovation, though the light station and museum remain open.

Stroll the Tybee Island Pier & Pavilion at the end of Tybrisa Street for people-watching and marveling at the Atlantic. It’s a fishing pier, so bring along the rod and reel, and bait (along with a Georgia fishing license for those 16 and older).

Fresh seafood makes another great reason to visit Tybee. Bubba Gumbo’sA.J.’s Dockside and Salt Island Fish & Beer are among our favorites, but discover your own spot for fresh catch, oysters and shrimp.

A Tybee Island Spring Break allows you to leave the real world behind. Dive into an adventure and build amazing memories with your kids.
