Holidays do not have to be hectic. In fact, a visit to Savannah for Thanksgiving is downright relaxing. Plan now for a low-key getaway to the “Hostess City of the South” to kick off the festive season.

There are plenty of things to do, but you can also just wander the squares and parks of the Historic District, shop the plethora of specialty stores and boutiques and, of course, enjoy that flavorful Southern cuisine. The city gets all decked out for the holidays, so there will be plenty of dazzling lights and decor to admire.

Many of our vacation rentals in the Savannah Historic District have gourmet kitchens so if you choose to cook your Thanksgiving meal, you’ll find everything you need.

But, if you prefer to keep things simple and dine out, several Savannah restaurants serve traditional Thanksgiving fare made with a coastal flair.

Savannah River Boat

A unique way to dine for Thanksgiving is onboard a Savannah River Boat seasonal cruise.

Enjoy a delicious traditional holiday buffet with live music with a 12:30 p.m. sailing and a 5 p.m. sailing on Turkey Day, Nov. 26. While you enjoy your meal, you’ll cruise the Savannah River, past the historic waterfront and some of the area’s most well-known landmarks, including the tip of Hutchinson Island and Old Fort Jackson.

The Olde Pink House

For a more traditional Thanksgiving brunch, reserve a table at The Olde Pink House, a favorite of both locals and tourists. Enjoy friendly service and large, delicious portions in one of the beautiful areas of this historic restaurant. Ask for a seat by the fireplace, which would be a perfect setting for Thanksgiving. The fixed-price, three-course Thanksgiving menu makes a wonderful holiday experience.

Garibaldi

Another fave is Garibaldi, with a lovely ambiance, excellent wait staff and delicious menu choices. We recommend a reservation for this popular restaurant as well. They serve generous portions of the traditional holiday meal, with tender turkey and ham, and delicious dressing. Or opt for one of their scrumptious seafood dishes. Either way, you can’t go wrong.

Mrs. Wikes Dining Room

If you prefer to order take-out and enjoy back at your vacation rental, Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room is a great option. This is a truly unique Savannah experience, usually because of the communal-style dining. With COVID-19 restrictions, there is no dine-in, but you can still enjoy their delicious Southern comfort food with a pick-up order.

The best thing about these spots and more is that many are within walking distance of your beautiful Historic District property. So, book a stay now and enjoy a leisurely Thanksgiving holiday this year in Savannah.
