Spring is one of Savannah’s most delightful seasons. Those longer days and gorgeous weather also bring some of our favorite outdoor events that range from the whimsical to the historical.

Take an Early Bird Walking Tour on Saturdays in April. Meet at 8 a.m. at the Davenport House Museum, where the 2.7-mile walk begins. Check out some of the finest architectural examples the city. Afterward, enjoy coffee and treats in the Davenport House Garden. Reservations are appreciated, but walk-ins are welcome.

Celebrate Earth Day on April 21 at Daffin Park with live music, food vendors, educational activities and more.

The SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival on April 22 features chalk art by local students, transforming Forsyth Park into a technicolor wonderland. Stroll through the outdoor gallery while enjoying food and music.

If you love history, attend the Fee Free Day at the Fort Pulaski National Monument from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on April 22. The fort was completed in 1847 to protect the port city. Union troops bombarded the fort during the Civil War. The fort was declared a National Monument in 1924. It was used briefly as a U.S. Navy base in World War II, then became part of the National Park Service.

Enjoy a day of enchantment during the Fairy and Gnome Festival at Oakland Island Wildlife Center on April 29. Activities take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with this family-themed festival. Take part in a scavenger hunt, fashion show, gem mining, fairy and gnome home building and food trucks. Bring the family to walk Oatland’s magical trails and maybe catch a glimpse of a fairy or gnome.

Register for the Miles to Margaritas 5K on April 29. This race - designed for fun and excitement - is for runners and walkers of all experience levels. The race takes place at Daffin Park beginning at 8 a.m., and runners can enjoy a margarita at the finish line. Proceeds benefit the Coastal Pet Rescue Shelter in Savannah.

Crafts on the River on April 28-30 along River Street features more than 50 artists and crafters displaying wares. Check out original art and handmade items, including photography, candles, special foods, jewelry, and more.

Select a weekend and book your Savannah vacation in a delightful property close to all the action.
