All of our homes are professionally cleaned after each stay, and disinfected using a quaternary disinfectant throughout the entire property prior to each new arrival.

From the brightly striped hammock chair in the living room to the hula-dancing hippo in one of the bedrooms, Barefoot Children is a Tybee Island beach house that welcomes your kids – and the kid within you – to carefree days of fun. Four bedrooms and three baths comfortably accommodate your group of up to 10 people. With easy access to the famed Tybee beaches and a heated pool, you’ll be busy from sunup to sunset. All you have to bring along are swimsuits and personal items. Flip flops are optional.

When you cross the threshold of the Barefoot Children home, its beautiful beach vibe washes over you like a warm, gentle wave of welcome. Airy and filled with sunlight, the open floorplan features natural plank flooring and cool white walls. Artsy décor in sea green and aqua, slipcovered furnishings, and baskets of beach towels communicate an inviting laid-back atmosphere where you can relax and unwind.

A flat-screen TV provides a focal point for the seating area and the bistro table with stools just beyond. Lovely French doors open to a roomy screened porch with plenty of places to perch while you enjoy conversation and the soft murmur of the sea just a short walk away.

Back inside, the sunlit dining area features rustic seating for six for those scrumptious meals you create in the adjacent kitchen where a full-sized fridge, range oven, dishwasher, and microwave await. You’ll love the color contrast of the big buffet cabinet, tucked into the alcove. All the cupboards are fully stocked with dishes, glasses, and cookware.

Just down the hall, you’ll find the Pirate’s Quarters outfitted with bunk beds and cool nautical decorations your kids will love. The nearby bathroom features a tub-shower for clean-up after long, fun-filled days.

The magnificent master suite is your own private island. Escape to the pillowy luxury of the king-sized bed at the close of each day. The roomy seating area is complete with a wall-mounted TV and a ceiling fan. Artful touches surround you, such as the vibrant shutter-style headboard and the bright contrasts of the vintage chest of drawers and double mirrors above.

His-and-her sinks with twin mirrors and plenty of counter space for your toiletries grace the ensuite bathroom. A tub-shower combination leaves your bathing options open, and a supply of fluffy towels is within arm's reach.

The queen-sized bedroom suite, just off the living room, is all decked out in energizing shades of pink, sea green, and blue. The ensuite bath offers a large vanity and shower. The fourth bedroom contains a set of princess-style twin beds, a happy hippo wall mural, a closet, and a dresser.

You will also have a washer and dryer, tucked neatly into its own utility room. Wi-fi, private parking for up to four vehicles, air conditioning, and an outdoor grill are also included. As guests of Barefoot Children, your group also has the use of the nearby, heated swimming pool that’s open all year long.

Swimming, sunbathing and beachcombing are Tybee Island’s most popular pastimes, but if you’re adventurous, you can add cycling, kayaking, and surfing to that list. Set aside some time to head to the North Beach too, home to the Tybee Island Light Station and Museum. Located at the mouth of the Savannah River for nearly three centuries, the lighthouse has undergone destruction and rebirth several times over the years. Visitors can climb to the top for a great view of the surroundings. You can also learn about the area’s rich history in the adjacent museum.

While you are there, take a leisurely stroll along the footpath leading from the parking lot and along the river. You’ll see a variety of native flora and fauna, including wild birds feeding. You may even catch a glimpse of dolphins at play.

Southern Belle Pool

Our guests have access to our beautiful, heated pool that is located on Tybee Island. For our Savannah properties it is a scenic 25-minute drive through Wilmington and Whitemarsh Island, taking you over the Savannah River Delta onto Tybee Island.

Guests with Pets

If you would like to bring along your dog(s) during your stay, we do have some pet-friendly properties allowing up to 2 dogs and the total weight cannot exceed 50lbs for a pet fee of $130. This notice is not an indication the home you are currently viewing is pet-friendly.

Long-Term Stays

For our long-term stays, 30 days or more, we require a deposit and our office will reach out to you for details. For 60 days or more long-term stays, we require an additional clean.

This home could not be more kid friendly!! We have stayed here twice now. Love the place. It has unique nooks and crannies, a pirate ship bunk bed, a swing in the living room…just so much fun everywhere you look. The location is perfect. Pool is very clean and water is warm. I cannot say enough good things about this home ❤️

Ideal for families with toddlers

Excellent home for families with toddlers. We had plenty of room for four adults and three children (2, 3, 6). One family was able to take the upstairs space and the other family had the main floor. Couldn't hear a thing between the two spaces. Plenty of room for lounging and the kitchen was fully prepared for us to cook all meals that week. We loved that there weren't breakable items low to the ground, we didn't need to 'baby-proof' the house, and the bonus space underneath the house was great to let them run around and store our wagon and stroller. The only suggestions I'd have would be to include a wagon on the premises to be able to pull everything you need for the beach since it is a few blocks away with small kids. The pool is about a 10-minute walk and again, would have been nice to not need to bring our own wagon that took up space in our car. Another suggestion is to provide beach towels that we can wash and take up less space in luggage. We did wish the pool was open after 5 p.m. to burn the kids' energy after naps, and the shopping area all closes by 8 so not much to do in the evenings. Overall excellent stay, easy drive to Savannah for a day-trip, walkable grocery store, beach and pool.

Barefoot children was very clean, tastefully decorated, fully stocked including children's games and was walkable to all things Tybee. It was clear it is shared with the owners as no detail was overlooked. Everyone in our party was comfortable and relaxed and we especially loved the porch and the ability to open all the doors and windows for a lovely ocean cross breeze. The walk to the beach is so simple and quick we did it multiple times a day. We would definitely like to revisit! Quiet neighborhood as well.

Our entire family enjoyed an incredibly lovely week in this funplex! As will happen with little ones, it was both peaceful and chaotic; sandy and smooth; relaxing and exhausting :-). We walked to the beach each night and most days too-plus enjoyed the pool with clean bathrooms at the ready. Our wee little hooligans thoroughly enjoyed being pirates for the week. The kitchen was well stocked and the many bathrooms were all utilized! This home was felt by all in our group to be their favorite Vrbo ever!!!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Barefoot Children. There were so many little treasures throughout the property. The porches were spacious and were a great retreat. The kids loved the themed rooms and games in the home. The property was clean, safe and comfortable. Our hosts were attentive and very responsive. Beach access was close and event though it was winter we enjoyed a short walk to see the ocean. I hope to return soon!

We had two families, four kids under age five. Due to the size of the house and all the enclosed areas, the kids even had a blast on rainy days. The home had plenty of sleeping space and we were so thrilled with the amount of kid-friendly beds and toys in the home. We were able to actually have a vacation that was relaxing which is so rare!! Only negative was the grill provided was a camping grill, so not really suitable for full family cooking. Fully stocked kitchen made up for it though. We all had a great time and would go back for sure. Highly recommend!!
