CraftSmith Cottage: Artful luxury and charm

Welcome to CraftSmith Cottage on Charlton, a charming historic Arts & Crafts era bungalow in Savannah’s historic district. Exceptionally quiet, this freestanding private cottage offers many cozy indoor and outdoor nooks to relax while “living like a local.” Enjoy a glass of lemonade on the front porch overlooking a sweet garden of camelia, azalea, and boxwood shrubs. Or, dine al fresco in the airy screened porch which opens to a paved backyard patio and garden. All yours without having to share any walls with anyone!

Newly furnished from top to bottom in 2017, you’ll savor the serenity of the living room with its stylish, comfortable chairs, sleeper couch, Smart TV, local art, and heritage tables made of reclaimed wood. Twin beds in the guest room and a queen bed in the master offer brand new pillowtop comfort. Beautiful wood floors gleam throughout the home, highlighted by sunlight streaming through three walls of historic windows in the living room. Vaulted ceilings help the 820-square foot gem “live large.” A front-loading washer and dryer are in the spacious dressing area between the master bedroom and light-filled master bath. The hall bathroom lies across from the guest bedroom and features a pedestal sink and full bath/shower. A modern galley kitchen includes granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.

Close to everything

Unprecedented in downtown Savannah, the CraftSmith Cottage boasts three parking spots – two behind the cottage, and one in front. But, you’ll probably find yourself walking everywhere. You’re just a few blocks away from author Flannery O’Connor’s childhood home, Colonial Cemetery, Smith’s Butcher shop and the historic St. John the Baptist cathedral. A leisurely stroll through the leafy squares of Savannah will bring you to a bountiful array of coffee shops, restaurants and boutiques. Return home to the CraftSmith Cottage for elegant comfort and artful style.

Southern Belle Pool

Our guests have access to our beautiful, heated pool that is located on Tybee Island. For our Savannah properties it is a scenic 25-minute drive through Wilmington and Whitemarsh Island, taking you over the Savannah River Delta onto Tybee Island.

Guests with Pets

If you would like to bring along your dog(s) during your stay, we do have some pet-friendly properties allowing up to 2 dogs and the total weight cannot exceed 50lbs for a pet fee of $130. This notice is not an indication the home you are currently viewing is pet-friendly.

Long-Term Stays

For our long-term stays, 30 days or more, we require a deposit and our office will reach out to you for details. For 60 days or more long-term stays, we require an additional clean.

Craftsmith Cottage was delighful. It is in a quiet neighborhood and easy to get to. Parking was great. We had just the one car and parked at the front door but there are two more spaces in the back. The cottage is well equipped. We didn't do any cooking but everything you need is there. We had a wonderful time and so enjoyed the feeling of home instead of staying in a hotel. We would definitely stay there again.

My girlfriends and I booked this cottage for a relaxing trip away from work. The location of the cottage was perfect. We walked everywhere. The cottage itself was charming, roomy and had everything we needed. The beds were comfy and the home was very clean and well kept. The property management team checked in often to be sure we had everything we needed. There is private parking, which was an amazing find. There is a cute enclosed back porch area that is perfect for morning coffee or mimosas.

We loved our thanksgiving time at Craftsmith Cottage. Everything was very clean and functional. The location is perfect. We walked to several historic sites as well to River Street. The cottage was delightful! The location was conveniently located in the historic district which allowed us to walk to all the historic sites and tours, museums, mansions and restaurants. The beds were comfortable and we had all the amenities we needed. We especially loved sitting on the back screened in porch every morning and evening. The cottage was clean and bright. My husband and I, along with our 2 young adult children stayed in Craftsman Cottage. We had stayed one street over on Jones Street last summer. Craftsman Cottage offered the same great location in a smaller and much more affordable package. While smaller, it was certainly comfortable and had everything we needed. The extra room in the back that has 2 walls that are largely screened was a perfect blend of indoor/outdoor space and we used it extensively. We would definitely rent this cottage again and would recommend it to others as well. The management company was very responsive when we reached out about a missing key. The house is walkable to everything you want in Savannah itself and a short drive (approximately 30 min) to Tybee Island for some beach activities. I hope to be able to come back. Savannah is a perfect package of history, architecture, city life and fabulous gardens and trees.

We were in town for traveling soccer. We added on some extra days to explore Savannah and hang out at the beach. The cottage was the perfect location. It is close to everything. We were very comfortable. There were a lot of spring breakers in Savannah so we were happy to have our quiet little spot to return to each night.

We did cook breakfast during our stay and had all we needed in the kitchen. It was conveniently located and we loved having the off street parking. The cottage was so cute and extremely clean. Everything we needed was provided. We enjoyed having a drink both on the front deck and the back porch. The only caution is that the doors lock if the button is pushed in and you could easily get locked out if you didn't keep a key with you! We had a few scares! This was the perfect place for a girls trip and we would highly recommend it.

We all whacked our thighs on the bed footboards and got nasty bruises. With limited clearance around the beds, you should not have footboards that have corners that stick out. You should remove the footboards or replace them with rounded ones that don't stick out.

our experience was excellent. We rented a place in Florida a few years back with outdoor screened pool near Disney for $100 night that was very nice also. That was 10 years ago. More importantly, I was going to use Air BNB but when I started to try to book, prices jumped. I started looking at various cleaning fees, etc. Did web search and found your website. I liked info. on places you had, calendar easy to use for booking, and prices were reasonable and VERY easy to understand. You have a better mouse trap IMO.
